Sharing the Faith

mcgrath-in-the-pink-crop-faith-page-line.jpg

October is Breast Cancer awareness month, It is amazing to see how many people are getting involved in different ways to raise funds, Increase awareness or showing their support to ladies going through treatment. I am doing a few things through October in aid the McGrath Foundation. One of the projects is making 6 x 6 pages for a book of inspirational quotes, sayings & feelings that will be displayed in the reception area of the Westmead Breast Cancer Clinic and the McGrath Foundation office waiting room. The idea is for the book to provide positive thoughts to the patients, their families & visitors who have been affected by Breast Cancer.

I NEED your help.

If you could spare the time to create a 6×6” layout that would be greatly appreciated. The colour scheme is trying to be kept in line with Think Pink October, whether it be the pale pink of the Breast Cancer Foundation ribbons or the cerise of the McGrath Foundation logo. In Stampin’ Up talk I am looking for Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Rose Red or Purely Pomegranate, But you don’t have to use Stampin’ Up! That is just to give you a better colour guide. They are due quite soon so you will need to work quickly, You have until Monday 12th October and email me for my mailing address {mail@tenealewilliams.com.au}.

I have not Scrapped in SO long it took me forever to make this layout but I am pretty happy with it, It was made with love and I guess that is important. The longest part of this page was finding the quote but I really love this one. Just in case you can’t read it in my photo:

There is a light in this world, a healing spirit more powerful than any darkness we may encounter.

We sometime lose sight of this force when there is suffering, and too much pain.

Then suddenly, the spirit will emerge through the lives of ordinary people who hear a call and answer in extraordinary ways.
-Mother Teresa

Cheers to being 21

cheers-to-mel-line.jpg

I am loving this card SO much it is SO not me and they are colours that I never use….To the point I did not even own all the colours in Cardstock and Ink Pads {shock} but I made do. I needed to make a 21st Birthday card for my little cousin who is having a Hawaiian theme celebration to mark this milestone Birthday. I did not have to think to hard about this card which is nice. I straight away pulled out the Pink Flamingo Printed Papers and Cheers to You stamp set because I think they are perfect for this theme. What else made it easy was I took part in another Sketch Challenge this time from iheart2stamp.com.

Here is the Layout:
cheers-to-mel-sketch.jpg

Here is my take on the Layout: It was a fun layout and a layout I would not of put together myself but it looks great. I have Watercoloured the Glass and paper pieced the other elements in the image. I have applied Crystal Efforts over the Glass and Cherry. I also used a little Crystal Efforts in the centre of the flowers.
cheers-to-mel.jpg

And I just thought I would show you the envelope and card together, I love matching the card inside and envelope with the card front On the envelope I have covered the back flap with Printed Paper and used AC Thickers to put Melissa on the front. I am very happy with this card.

True Friends

great-friend-pocket-card-line2.jpg

Today I have a cute Friendship card to show using a set I LOVE from the Spring Mini called “Great Friend” It has so many images that appeal to me, To start off with I love, love, love Butterflies my love of Butterflies started when I was a little girl and my Dear little Grandma gave my a glittery Brooch in a Butterfly shape and I remember how much I loved it and in fact I still have it is my treasure box with other items that mean a lot to me, Grandma kept the Butterfly thing going once she realised how much I treasured the Brooch she gave me by getting me magnets and stickers as little gifts. Its funny the small highlights we remember from our childhood because I am sure Grandma had no idea that small gift would form into such a strong memory for me. … Anyway Moving on…. {focus Teneale}

I have also used the leaf image in this set for the background stamping it in VersaMark, It’s great how Stampin’ Up! Co-ordinate images within a set for example the leaf I have used on the background is also in the Butterfly wing detail {love that} AND I really love having Co-ordinating Printed Papers…. I have used the Printed Papers on the scallop. To create the scallop I punched out a bunch of Circles using my 1” circle punch and attached them along the outside of a larger circle making a lovely scallop circle.

great-friend-pocket-card.jpg

As you can see this card has a little secret pocket by pulling the little bow in the top corner, a special message is revealed…. I love designing cards with a little surprise. The stamp I have used for the “True Friend” is from the Friendly Words wheel that I took off the wheel and cut up to make a Fabulous Friendship Greeting set, To see how I did that scroll down to the next post of click here.

Tutorial: Taking Rubber of Stampin' Around Wheels

tutorial-taking-rubber-of-wheel-line.jpg

I thought I would prepare a quick Tutorial to show you how you can take the Rubber off the Stampin’ Around wheels. I love most of the Stampin’ Around wheels but I some times I have trouble wheeling them straight {as much as I try} with some designs if they are not straight they look “bad” and I hate things that are not straight and everything on my cards needs to be perfect, So I take these designs off the wheel and use then as a long stamp on a clear block. Some designs I take off the wheel because I want to cut them up and use parts of the stamp, Like I have done with Friendly Words on this card.

It is very easy to do, All you need in a Wheel, a Cutting knife and Ezy Mount Foam. Using the Cutting knife cut down the seem of the rubber.
tutorial-taking-rubber-of-wheel-1.jpg

Start pulling back the rubber gently.
tutorial-taking-rubber-of-wheel-2.jpg

Keep going… remember gently.
tutorial-taking-rubber-of-wheel-3.jpg

Attach Ezy Mount Foam to the back of you rubber. Ezy Mount can be bought from Scrapbook Stores and it comes in a A4 Sheet. One side is sticky and that is the side the Rubber attaches too, and the other side is shiny and soft which “clings” to a clear block.
tutorial-taking-rubber-of-wheel-4.jpg

Here I have cut the “Friendly Words” Wheel up and now I have a fabulous Friendship Quote set. I must admit I ordered two of this wheel so I can keep one as a wheel and the second wheel I could cut up :)

Welcome boat

nursery-necessities-bashfull-boy-line.jpg

Another Baby card this time for a little boy, I have used Nursery Necessities and Jumbo Nursery Letters wheel again on this card and I love the little boat as much as yesterdays elephant on the girl card. This card came together pretty quick for me {as I am the slowest cardmaker ever}. I used this weeks sketch from the Sweetest thing Blog, Every week I check out the Sketches on this blog and always mean to take part in the challenge but… never end up doing it, I really should because I love Sketch Challenges as they take me out of my comfit zone and I think it is so much quicker to make a card when you have a sketch to build from.

Here is the Sketch I used:

My Card….

Inside is a little boring on this one but I thought I would still show you. Yes I put ribbon inside the card, And Yes that does make the card extra bulky but I just LOVE ribbon and I can’t help myself :) ….

Getting ready to welcome…

nursery-necessities-regal-girl-line.jpg

I am about to enter “baby season” I know so many people who are about to have babies between October and December, but the most important baby coming is from my Sister who is due in a few weeks however I think she will have it early {like any day now}. Yesterday I went with her for the last ultrasound and I am SO excited for her to finally have this baby she has had lots of problems along the way so we all just want her to have the baby and know that everything is OK with her and the baby. It was the best ultrasound so far because we found out the sex as every other ultrasound the legs were crossed so we could not really tell and we got a pretty good look at the face and little hands….So cute.

This is not the card I will give to my Sister but it is going in the stash for one of the other babies that will be coming, I like to have cards pre-made for babies so it is already when I go and meet the new baby and see the Mummy. This was the first time I have used Nursery Necessities but it has been sitting on my shelf for a while waiting for me to make a Baby card, Once I mounted it I realised it really is not limited to a “baby card” I can use the Boat for a boy card and lots of uses for the star’s in the set but I LOVE the cute elephant which I had to use to start off with.

I am not totally loving this card because I feel like it needs something in the bottom right corner but not sure what, I played around with brads, pearls then little buttons in a line but it looked too much… So I left them off. Do you have any suggestions?

nursery-necessities-regal-girl.jpg

Here is the inside of my card, Just simple with a greeting from God’s Blessing which I think is such a lovely stamp set.

Pocket Pizzazz

petal-pot-pizzazz-line.jpg

Here is the second instalment of my pocket projects, This pocket is not as bright as the first but it is very girlie which was something that was requested. I have seen these cute flower pot cards everywhere on Splitcoast Stampers, And I thought it would go perfect with Petal Pizzazz which is my newest Stamp set which was a Gift from Stampin’ Up {how lucky am I}…. I have used Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink and Pink Pirouette for the flowers and one of my Favourite colours that has been a little neglected lately, Good old Sage Shadow on the leafs, I went for Kraft on the pot which I have stamped the Polka Dot Background on using VersaMark. You can’t see to good in the photo but I have added a little glitter to the flowers and it looks quite good in real life.

Playful Pocket

playful-petals-pock-card-line.jpg

This is possibly the brightest card I have made in a while and the brightest I would probably make because I am not really a “bright” person {in more ways the one lol}, They are also colours I normally would not use together but I really like the finished product. I was asked to design a few “pocket” cards for a friend who wants to make them to give to members of her staff, The brief was bright, cheery and girlie. She wants pocket cards so she can put gift vouchers in the pocket with a note on the tag….This is the first of a few that I came up with and I will show you the other cards over the coming week.

I have used Playful Petals on this card, I really like this set because it was easy to use and I do like stamps that I can watercolour, even thou I have a long running love hate relationship with water colouring. I have stamped the image on SU watercolour paper then coloured with a Blender Pen and the ink from the lid of an ink pad. On the Almost Amethyst section of the flower I have also used a Marker to colour the centre of the small circles direct to paper giving a darker tone. I have used the flower image on the Pretty in Pink Cardstock by stamping in VersaMark. I have used the Circle image on the So Saffron Card. I think what sets this card off is the Dazzling Diamonds, which I have applied using Two Way glue.

playful-petals-pock-card-main-image.jpg

Just thought I would show you a shot with the tag coming out, A note can be written on the tag. I have left the tag quite plain by just stamping the flower image in the corner using VersaMark. The pocket it self is super easy to make, I cut a piece of Pretty in Pink Cardstock 21cm x 10.5cm I scored a line at 9cm and folded that over and adhere using Sticky Strip and you really do need Sticky Strip because it is so strong. In this case I have folded back the right corner before adhering. The Tag is Almost Amethyst Cardstock cut to 8cm x 11cm. The ribbon at the top makes it easy to pull out the tag.

playful-petals-pock-card-tag-out.jpg

WHY? Do I have a close up shot of the ribbon…… Well, I wanted to show you a close up of the FREE Ribbon that you receive when you spend $100 this month…. Yep… FREE Ribbon….You receive 9m of this Certainly Celery Twill Ribbon AND 9m of So Saffron Grosgrain Ribbon. That’s 18m for FREE. This ribbon is not sold in the Catalogue and is only around for September. Read HERE for more info. {Can you tell I am excited about free ribbon}

A Message of love and Support

baja-rose-line.jpg

I made this card yesterday for Family Friends that I wanted to send a message of love and support to after a shock death within their Family over the weekend. I started making this card with a completely different end result in my mind but it ended up looking like a card I had make before for my Mum, But I still liked it and I knew that the recipient’s would appreciate the effort anyway.

This is only a short post today because I don’t really have a lot to say but I just want to remind everyone reading this to Cherish today and the one’s you love

baja-rose-card.jpg

I get asked all the time about how I package up my Cards that are very “bulky”, This card was a little “bulky” so I have made a thin envelope box to sit the card in. The lid is just a Cardstock flap, with ribbon keeping the flap closed.
baja-rose-2.jpg

Materials Used:
Stamps: Bird on a Branch and Fifth Avenue Floral
Ink: Jet Black StazOn and Baja Breeze
Cardstock: Watercolour, Very Vanilla and Baja Breeze
Printed Papers: Baja Breeze and Urban Oasis
Other: Blender Pen, Large Pearl from Pretties Kit, Large Flower Brad
Non-SU: Taffeta Ribbon in Cream.
