Family can be a funny thing. I love mine with all my heart, and as cardmakers, we normally give a beautifully handmade card to our loved ones on their birthday. Well, this horrible cardmaker failed her only sister last week by not giving a card on her birthday. I never think of her as sentimental and did not think she would care if she received one or not. I gave her gifts and created a stunning tablescape to celebrate, a few hours into the night she asked “is there a reason, I did not receive a card” I straight out said, “I have been busy and did not think you cared about cards” to which I received no response from her, my 9-year-old niece than told me that her mum keeps every card or note I have ever given her in a special place! I am horrible. I have since tried to give her a belated card and she just will not take it.
Why, do I share this tale with you? Funny enough the theme for our Fancy Friday blog hop is “For The Family”. You may already be on the hop and arrived from one of my most favourite people in the world, Rhoda MacPherson.
After destroying (dramatic much?) my sister birthday this last week by not giving a card, I was not allowing this to happen for my favourite Uncles 70th birthday in 2 weeks! Now I know this guy loves my cards. He is a car collector and happens to have a classic Chevrolet Camaro, so I knew it was my chance to use Geared Up Garage.
I watercoloured the image on Watercolour paper, starting with a halo around the car in Sahara Sand ink, Basic Grey for the tyre and grill. For the headlights I used So Saffron and mixed it with a little Basic Grey for the rims. The car itself is Tranquil Tide, which is a retiring in-colour and this stamper is stocking up on cardstock and an extra re-inker so I can have many years of Tranquil Tide.
Stampin’ Up! are just so good at creating amazing product suites and I love these Classic Garage Metal Elements that come in the All Geared Up suite.
Inside the card, I have watercoloured in So Saffron on a piece watercolour paper and stamped the greeting. I added little washi tape and the greeting. I have left lots of room to write a message to big Uncle A!
Next up on the Fancy Friday blog hop is the SUPER talented and lovely Susan Wong,

I love your layering and colouring here Teneale! The embossed gear background is genius and I’m loving all the touches of green.
Totally over the moon that I got to hop to you! Dream made! Oh and your card is just utter perfection!
(side note: your sister loves you and knows that you genuinely want to make her happy so please don’t worry lovely xx)
Beautiful work. Your attention to detail always floors me. How did you get such crisp embossing with the die? I can’t ever seem to get this technique to look good. Thanks for inspiring!
So much perfect texture and color here! LOVE!
