Happy New Year
My first post of 2015 and round one for the Artisan Blog Hop for 2015, thank you for stopping by. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, mine was delightful spending quality time with my loved ones and the same with my New Years Eve, having a lovely family dinner at Grandmas house, my sister was cooking and I was taking care of the “styling” aka table setting and activities. To help my out with my role I called on my wonderful friend My Digital Studio {MDS} featuring the When The Clock Strikes Twelve download to create it all with few Sizzix dies including a NEW die called the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits which you will see used in this first photo below, it is not able to be ordered until the 6th January but here is a sneak peek.
I love this little bag/pocket, it is the prefect size for a note card or a little treat! One of the activities I planned was for us to all prepare resolutions for 2015. Everyone had one of these made and sitting on the table for talk discussion as we eat the wonderful meal my amazing sister will have prepared for us.
Inside each packet is two slips:
Best Moments of 2014… {which I now realise should say… of and not for} I always believe you must review before you plan ahead, it was great fun talking with everyone about the best moments for the last year but I personally loved hearing my nieces spoke of their highlights, they were all little moments like from Bailey who is 9 said “When Ebony said her first prayer at family dinner all by herself” that made me melt a little! Its was wonderful yet surprising to hear that she was proud of her little sister as on most days they want to kill each other!
My resolutions for 2015… The thought of writing down resolutions can be daunting or taken too serious, my Mum was not overly excited when she first heard what I was planning so I used my good friend Google and he helped me prepare a little resolution inspiration to have on the table, I kept the suggestions lighthearted with some very clearly targeted to some people and others to get a giggle. I am not one to take new year resolutions too serious or set anything too large but it is a good chance to reflect and maybe remind yourself what is important.
I used to work for a Cinema company and trailers to upcoming movies used to arrive in these film canisters which we used to have 100’s of them empty laying around, one night they were being thrown out so being the storage loving person I gave a few a new home…. after not using them I throw half of them out in a clean out a few years ago but now that most cinemas has gone digital they are not made anymore and I love the few I now have.
Mum and dad took us on the best road trips when we were little, I just loved some of the crazy places we went, I would love to revisit and see how the have changed and even my sister would love to show her girls.
Totally something I need to work on in 2015, I know sometimes I am a bad friend! I look at my mum who has still good friends around her that she went to school with or worked together many years ago, some friendships that are 60 + years and I would love to have that when I am mums age.
This one was TOTALLY pointed to my sister who is always checking her phone when we have family dinner EVERY Monday night and it drives my Mum and I crazy. She knew straight away it was directed to her, I must note even after reading this she was on her phone as we all wrote our resolutions. #shocker
For the table I just made a little belly band to go around a white fabric napkin, then cut the circles and flag with thinlit dies and my Big Shot.
Team work at its finest in the below photo with a look into our New Years Eve celebration dinner, my sister prepared the most amazing dinner!
After dinner I planned for use to do a group activity, again using one of my film canisters I created a time capsule. I design a worksheet to document where we are at this point in time, I created two versions: one for the kids and another for the adults.
Here is the adults, it includes worklife.
Here is the kids, as I found out I should have band/singer. Or even song as my 5 year old niece Ebony answered with “that girl who sings shake, shake it off” as she is shaking her hands. Also the “treat” question was interesting as Baileys answer was “Mummy does not let me have treats”
Now I know I should have posted this before New Years Eve but I thought you can still prepare sometime like this and do with loved ones or friends at anytime, it does not need to be New Years Eve. The time capsule was a hit and we have decided next year we are going to do it again where we answer questions about our present “self” then open a year later as we answer questions about the “self” we are then.
Next up on the Artisan blog hop is UK’s amazing Vicky Hayes

This is absolutely brilliant. The decorations are stunning and I love the time capsule as well as the resolution ideas. I am meeting up with my gal pals in January and will incorporate this into our dinner together. Thank you for inspiring me! A very Happy New Year to you.
This is a great idea, and looks sooo professional! I’m so impressed you made it happen, takes guts, and being fabulously well organised. I would love to do this for Next year, would you consider sharing your list of example resolutions ? x
