Goodness me, my facebook feed was filled with expressions of love yesterday marking Valentine’s Days with flowers or gifts and LOTS of hand made cards, which made me realise how many friends I have who are card makers also surprisingly many of my friends husbands made cards for them a card this year. It was very sweet to see all that love! Did you know that Valentine’s day is the 2nd biggest occasion that cards are given, with Christmas being the first? I am a bit of a fact nerd, when I was told Valentine’s day is the such a big ‘card’ day I went off to “investigate” and I was shocked that approximately 1.5 billion Valentine`s Day cards exchanged every year and 85% of these cards given by the female kind as the males are giving rose’s over cards, with 79% of rose sales are to man. The more interesting fact I found with rose sales is that 15% of the woman buying flowers on Valentines day are buying them for themselves! Personally I would be saving my $$$ and skipping the flowers. #AllToTheirOwn
For me when I celebrate something is it mostly marked with a card, birthdays are classified as the main sent “everyday” card and that was not huge shock to me really but I was shocked that 65% of the cards given are to children, now that is most likely because I don’t have kids so I make only for my niece’s and a few friends kids. I know myself I give more adult birthdays card but I guess I am not the average being over 30 and childless, then I was thinking about my sister who is always and I mean ALWAYS hunting around my classroom looking for Birthday cards I may have laying around for so and so’s birthday. It is found that the average house gives 20-30 cards per year, surly homes with young kids must be doing double that because my niece’s are always off to someones party every couple of weekends.
Being the super helper that I am #YouKnowYouLoveMe I have designed two cards that are fast yet cute using two stamp set but you could get away with just Celebrate Today stamp set. The birthday cards that are kind of the same design for a boy and girl…
Before you scroll to far down the page.
WAIT
I will show you the stamps first
Celebrate Today
Hooray It’s Your Day
First I will show you the girl Birthday card, the stamp set Celebrate Today does come with matching framelits which I have used to cut out the balloon and ribbon details, if you own a Big Shot this will make it SO much easier but you can hand cut.
HERE is the bundle with framelits and stamps, you save 15% buying them in a bundle.
I do love a pretty inside, here you see the balloon stamped straight to the cardstock and as this card is for girls, I used the greeting “it’s all about you today” because lets face it, everyone girl wants to feel special on their birthday.
Now I have created a birthday card for the boys, it does not have as many ribbons coming of the balloons and I have used the second balloon image from the stamp set with Happy stamped in Cherry Cobbler, the base is in Island Indigo with Crushed Curry stars and ribbon. The stars and the birthday boy greeting come from Hooray It’s Your Day however in the Celebrate Today stamp set there is an image with “Birthday” that could be used. However Hooray It’s Your Day is only $23.95 {in Australia} it is a fabulous addition to your collection.
These cards were made in my Stamp-A-Stack {bulk cardmaking} this month, I am based in Western Sydney if you are interested in attending one of my stamping events, email me to get on my class list and more info. *Please advise if a demonstrator yourself.
The fun is not over my friends, this post is part of a blog hop with the Creation Station design team and this round we are following the theme Birthdays using Celebrate Today. Click back to see Jen Arkfeld or click next to head over to Sara Levin
