What a week I had at the Rosehill Stiches and Craft show, It was great meeting new people, Catching up with customers and sharing ideas with everyone. Our stand was always busy with Make and takes, Demonstrations and people looking at all our card samples. I really enjoyed teaching my class at the show… I think everyone had a great time, I have really appreciated the positive feedback I have received from people who attend the class.
At the show I was doing Chalkboard Demonstrations each morning, Chalkboard is a really simple technique using Stampin’ Pastels (chalk) and White Pigment ink. I have prepared a short tutorial on Chalkboard to show you how its done.
You will need:
Stamps (I used Baroque Motifs)
Chalks
Whisper White ink pad
Dark Cardstock (Black, Brown or Navy works best)
Sponge Daubers
Dry Paint Brush
Colouring pencils (I used SU watercolour Pencils)
1. Stamp the image onto Dark Cardstock
2. Roll Sponge Dauber in Regal Rose chalk
3. “Bounce” the Sponge Dauber over the stamped image.
4. Using a Dry Paint Brush dust off the excess chalk
5. Stamp flowers over the flourish in Whisper White Ink
6. Using Rose Red Watercolour Pencil Colour the centre of the flowers, I have also toned the edge of the Flourish using the pencil to add “light and shade”
7. This is what the finished card looks like:

this looks fantastic Teneale! I’d never thought of combining chalkboard and black magic but when you think about it it’s rather logical. While I’ll pull the paintbrush out for heat embossing I don’t know that I’d have the patience to use it one something this detailed, but the end result is fantastic!
Thanks for the step by step, l think I will have to give it a go.
WOW what a stunning card and technique – TFS
Gorgeous as always Teneale! Would live to see more tutorials from you 🙂
Gorgeous card! I LOVE how you added the shadow on your swirls!
Fantastic sample for this technique. Hugs and smiles

Quick quetion, do you let the white ink dry completely before applying the chalks
