Confession. I have an addiction a “wellness” to flowers, butterflies, birds and flourishes in stamp sets, that leads to me buying them….all and sometimes don’t use them all immediately. I am sure some can relate, this stamp set “Better With You” was one I ordered straight away after seeing in the Stampin’ Up! Catalogue, but kept putting off using it because I wanted to take my time to make something beautiful with it. I wanted to sit and enjoy watercolouring this stunning illustrated bird. I don’t often say this but I feel like I made the wait worth it. I adore this card, maybe because I stepped outside my normal colour range. I mean, I used Pacific Point! A colour I have not used in years.
The design of the card used this weeks INKspired sketch that created for my team, the INKspired Artistes. I am excited to see how everyone used the sketch and if they noticed the panels on the lower half of the card.
What do you think? It is much brighter than I normally do, I have used Pacific Point, Balmy Blue and Cajun Craze, with a little Crumb Cake. The background diamonds use a stamp in the same set as the bird, which I have clear embossed.
I watercoloured on White Shimmer cardstock, this is my favourite watercolour stock, I wanted an organic and even ruff-ish watercolour look.
For the panelling on the sketch, which at first I was questioning why I added that to the sketch but after having a look through my die stash I decided to use the large greeting from Merry Christmas Dies. The sketch has a scallop under the middle layer and I decided to have a ripped edge over the scallop.
Sorry, the photo is not the greatest of the inside and I went to not show it but felt you may like the see it anyway. I have stamped the diamonds and carefully watercoloured them, I say “carefully” as the dye ink I stamped with can run.
