In my family, we have three birthday months April, October and December between 6 of us. In April we celebrate mine and my older sisters birthdays, we are only days apart, in fact I was due on the 21st April and arrived 16th April, my nine year older sister was due 16th April and arrived 21st. I guess that was good for my parents as we shared birthday parties a few times.  Her birthday is coming up Tuesday and used the sketch for INKspired blog hop to create her birthday card. Here is the sketch we are all using as a base for our cards.

INKspired Sketch Challenge

I create the challenges for the team months ahead, to the point this batch was done early last year and I forget what the designs look like. When I saw this one pop up, I questioned what I was thinking at the time of design but after using the sketch, I really like it.

I stamped the greeting and felt it was a little too stark so I added a really light watercolour wash of Rich Razzleberry and a little ink splatter.  It made a huge difference.

I fussy cut the flower from one the sheets from Peaceful Poppies DSP and in the center I added a Peaceful Poppies Sequins with a french knot. It is my favourite feature of the card.  I added two vellum leaves from Peaceful Poppies Elements, can you tell I am LOVING the Peaceful Poppies suite.

Inside the card, I did another watercolour wash with splatter this time before stamping the greeting and I suggest doing the wash before stamping so you don’t have a colour run.

This year was weird even on my birthday as I would normally spend it with my nieces and have a family dinner but with everyone being in Covid lockdown I did not get the normal birthday celebrations. I will not see my sister for her birthday either, I will drop this at her doorstep when I pop out to do a grocery store and it was really hard finding a greeting to use. I know my amazing nieces will make sure she has an amazing day and remind her how loved she is.

I even had to shop online for her birthday gift, I do shop online but you don’t realise how limiting it can be. Don’t get me started on the wait for the items to arrive! I ordered Easter eggs and gifts online from Target, half the order was cancelled as they did not have the stock and the rest arrived after easter!  I even placed the order in late March. (Side note: I know this is crazy times and I am lucky this is the least I have to worry about)

Wrapping is one of my favourite things and my mum rolls her eyes when she sees that I have used (she would say ‘wastes’) printed paper to wrap gifts but I love the card to match the wrapping.

I made a really large tag for her gift, I fussy cut this massive flower from one of the sheets of DSP and added my sister’s name, Terrianne. Yes, two T’s in the house when we both lived at home, we would both fight over who got to open the T Williams mail if we were not sure who it was to.  Now I hate opening mail as it is often bills!

In the center I added more Peaceful Poppies Sequins, I did not do french knots in the holes but I think I will.
