Krafty Tools

August 21, 2009

tools-basic-kraft-on-the-head-line.jpg

The title of this post is very suitable for two reasons, Firstly for the most obvious reason of the Materials used. Kraft Cardstock & Kraft Pattern Papers and the “Totally Tool” Stamp Set. The second reason was I had to get “krafty” with my tools to create the circle. I LOVE all my Spellbinders dies and my stash of dies are only arms length away from my work station and most are always being used. I planned out this card and started making it then I reached for my Circle Spellbinders and then remembered I lent them to a friend that needed them for a class she was teaching……. WHY, I have not used my circle dies in a few weeks because I am loving the Label One and Four dies so I am using them for most projects but It always happens that way when you lend something that you have not used, You then want to use it yourself. SO I had to go old school and use a cutting knife and a coffee mug to cut my circle.

I was pretty happy with this card because Masculine cards are sometimes hard for me because I like “pretty”, But I must also say it helped because I love this stamp set and I see lost of options with the images and the text is a little funny and cute. Below are all the images in the 5 piece stamp set for $45.95. I have used all the tool images stamped in VersaMark for the background, Then the hammer image for the main image which I have stamped on DSP and Paper Pieced the image. The only thing I was not sure on was the ribbon…. I have this thing about ribbon on Masculine cards? I am just never sure if it is suitable? What do you think?

Hi Teneale, I think the ribbon enhances your project. It certainly does not take over the main image and because you have not made a true bow so too speak it does not look girly. I love it!!
    Regards

Yay! Another totally fantastic card Teneale. Worth the extra long wait, LOL! I know what you mean about ribbon on male cards, I’m the same way. Maybe instead of the knot, you could anchor the ribbon with some giant brads or jumbo metal eyelets?

Great card, Teneale! I love the way you’ve used the tools for the background as well.

    WOW! Stunning card Teneale!
…and you said you cut out the circle by hand with a craft knife?! :O WOW!
It looks perfectly cut – any tips? Did you just draw on the back of the CS with a compass and pencil? and cut it out that way? I’d love to know, because I love the look of this card 😀

Great to see you on here again. Your cards are always fabulous, & this is no exception. Think I’ll have to borrow the colour scheme, looks great. Would never have thought of paper piecing the tools either. Great work!
