Mr and Mrs

September 17, 2011

For me wedding cards are a special kind of card, one that I don’t make often and I hate to admit I often buy them not make them because I stress myself out as I know they really will be cherished and kept. I always think wedding or even engagement cards need to be sophisticated, elegant and chic I like to use the colours of the wedding if I know the colours, if I do not I keep it simple mostly using neutral tones. I was put to the test by my Friday night card ladies who all seem to have a wedding in the coming months, so I was to design 2 wedding cards for us  to create  in class this week. I double challenged myself  my using this week’s muse card from CASE Study as my design inspiration.

I am just loving what the whole CASE Study team are taking from September Muse Julie Lacey, we still have two weeks of Julie’s art to inspire us, how FUN!

This time around I took inspiration from Julie’s card in the following ways;

The main image layering: Notice how Julie has her greeting layered on the main image, I have used that with my Mr & Mrs flag over the heart.

Colours: Julie has used Kraft, White and Black as a striking and elegant colour combo, I have taken that lead and used Kraft {Crumb Cake to all you SU! Peeps} and Very Vanilla.

Layout: Following Julie’s design I have a boarder around the card with my stripes and ribbon, the main image is also positioned about the same area….

Now after all that chit chat on to my creation, if anyone in Australia has been watching the renovators Robyn Holt would call this combo “Australian Bleach Chic”…. I think I am a little obsessed with that show…..

And onto the inside……. You know I love the inside done.

    Teneale, I love all your pieces of art, they are amazing! I open your blog everyday when I get to work, and I’m thrilled when you have a new post! I have noticed you love to use the Bakers Twine, which sadly is not for sale through the Australian cati, have you used just normal string instead??
