I am feeling very much out of my comfit zone! The INKspired blog hop is trying something new this round… a scrapbook page! I created a sketch for the team to use as a guide, each INKspired Artist can make the sketch their own or they even had the option to make a card using the sketch.
I started scrapbooking in the early 2000s with my sister, it was our weekly outlet until I found cardmaking and fell in love with stamping. Everything I travel I collect maps, receipts and other items to add to my photos when I scrapbook. So far I have completed zero pages! I had not even printed photos. This challenge kicked my butt into gear and now I have started memory keeping my last trip to Orlando in November 2018 for the 30th Anniversary of Stampin’ Up!.
My favourite little travel buddy is my mum who is also part of this blog hop and a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, you can see her living her best life above with a welcome drink on our flight from Sydney to LAX. This trip was months of planning and changing of plans but we were both so excited about the trip! This was not our first Stampin’ Up! focused holiday, we love our crafty adventures and that we have a passion we share.
I knew from the get-go, I wanted to use the adventure die from Sweet Silhouettes which I have cut a few times and stacked them together, I really like the look of the white behind. The title of the page connects from top to bottom and I am pretty proud of my clever stamp selection. “Adventure starts today, off to great places!” One die, two stamps and the stamparatus. Starts today is from Bloom & Grow and off to great places! is from Above The Clouds Photopolymer Stamp Sets.
For me, I make notes while I am away thinking of my journaling (For all those albums after the trip I never made) the notes bring back so many memories, this layout did not really have room for all my journaling and every some of the photos. Enter the hidden notations behind the photo collage.
I have added a little cuteness and increased accessibility by adding the felt scallop from Follow Your Art Embellishment Kit.
Who remembers My Digital Studio (MDS) it was a digital design project Stampin’ Up! had many years ago, well, I LOVED it! I was part of the company design team and a strong advocate in the design program. MDS is no longer so I have used Photoshop and InDesign in the layout, including pullout cards which are 4 x 6 photos which I just designed (using InDesign) and saved as jpg to print at a photo centre.
This type of scrapbooking is called hybrid, bring tactile elements and digitally printed together. I have two cards that slip behind, the first one is double-sided see above and below for the two sides. One side has a snap chat of my nieces (plus sister not shown) who took mum and me to the airport and I talked about the first part of the morning.
This is mum and me seated, ready to get in the air with notes that relate to the images on the main collage. The second insert is a copy of our flights, I copied the PDF and printed it, I love having all the details including our seats. The back of this is just printed paper as I did not have anything else to add.
Next up on the INKspired blog hop scrapbook edition is Julie Martin!
I have heard about this page but not seen it and I can’t wait.
