There are two things I
REALLY LOVE
…….
1.My two nieces
and
2.Craft!
….
Well I wanted to bring the two together!
……..
……….
My nieces both love getting crafty
drawing, painting, punching “paper” {not each other},
big shoting, stamping…. and well anything creative
…….
I am proud to say that the littlest Ebony at 2 years of age
would stand on a step at my craft desk
turning the handle to the Big Shot helping me out.
{Should I really be admitting to slave labour}
……..
Even better was last Christmas when I asked
Bailey who was 6 what her Mum {my non-crafting sister}
wanted for Christmas,
Bailey replied “I think she wants a Big Shot, Aunty”
…..
SO I brought her a Big Shot for Christmas
however I am almost 100% positive
this year I could buy “her” new Big Shot plates
as they have gotten a workout this year…
from my nieces.
……
As ladies who craft, I am sure you agree
it is import that we need a “place” to craft
I decided my little girls needed a spot for them
…..
I headed to good old Ikea and brought
this table and chair set.
Function value
high
Style factor
Low
……
I am sure you would agree?
….
This was not going to work for my little artists
I had to step up the “cute” factor
……..
…….
Straight away know what I was doing!
My Digital Studio to the rescue
……
Updated:
Function value
high
Style factor
extreme
I must say I was pretty pleased with the results
…..
I used everything Stampin’ Up! Besides the Ikea set
I used “Storybook” digital downloads
…….
I measured the width and height of this part of the chair.
When I opened MDS I created a custom size “page”
based on the measurements.
It was very simple to create, I just dropped in
the digital DSP I wanted and played around
with the layout a little.
Even though the girls are prefect in my eyes
I know they flight over who “owns” what at times.
I also know one of the best things about craft
is we can personalise what you create.
So they both have their names on their chairs.
…………
Above you see Ebony has “property of” on her’s.
Ownership is important to Ebony
with her favourite line being “That’s mine”
…..
Bailey is a more careful and a forgetful child,
God love her but she is ALWAYS losing things,
so it was only fitting for Bailey to have
“If lost please return me to” on her chair
You can see I have the same layout on both chairs
but different images. From this shot you can see the
back side of the chair back, I did not think to take a photo.
The girls names I have cover chipboard and cut the letters
with the Typeset Alphabet Bigz Dies and the Big Shot.
…..
….
Ikea: Flat Packs
Yes
Teneale: Instructions
No
Not a good combination people!
Assembling was the hardest and longest part.
…….
I did have the foresight at least to cover the
desired surfaces of the chair and table edge
before putting it all together.
….
Did you notice the items on the top of the table?
To create a table and chairs was just not enough.
It’s about the “whole” look after look.
….
I measured the pencils but did not create a custom page
I opened a standard landscape page this time
and used the grid lines to keepto the measurements,
this way I could fill the whole page to print
and I also created the little flags for the top for the pencils.
I covered this tin for Ebony, again with the “ownership” issues
she likes to keep “her” belongings safely packed again.
I had this tin in my cupboard waiting for inspiration to strike.
On the digital download disk for Storytime it had
this designer template for a book cover.
I did not do anything to the design, I simply printed
and over a lined page school book.
Both the girls have one sitting on the desk to draw in.
It’s great for my sister as she can keep the books
as a keepsake of their create development.
Well I hope you enjoyed that super post!
I have a few more MDS projects that are Hybrid
and a little out of the box ideas.
………
I have been designing with digital images for many years
on a professional level, with MDS I finally feel like
I can use some of my skills in my craft.
….
From Friday to Sunday {20-22 sept} my blog will be offline,
I have scheduled the three days to re-design
So fingers crossed next week I will have a new look.
….
Show me a little comment love….
go on….you can do it 🙂
…..
This is a massive project but a fantastic one to showcase how great MDS is. Thanks for sharing.
You are so clever and I know the girls will love what you have done for them.
Ohhhh my Lordy me!! Teneale I have no words….AMAZING!!!!
luv Karen
xx
Teneale this is simply stunning and you should watch out as Ikea might employ you as their ‘upsell’ for these flat packs! Your nieces will think you are the bees knees (probably already do) with these beautifully personalised projects. WOW!
Wow, this is incredible. Can’t wait to hear how the girls like it.

Wow! These are fabulous, I want one for me 🙂 Thanks for sharing
Amazing, just love it.
You are incredible!! Amazing work. Love it, thanks so much for sharing.
What an awesome crafting place for your nieces – they are so lucky to have an Auntie like you!!
Awesome. I love all your work but this is amazing. You just keep on surprising me with all your talent. I would love a grown up version of this for me. 🙂
Good gracious! I am super impressed and wondering how long this monumental undertaking took! You are one super-special Aunty. Thanks so much for sharing all your hard work. I love it all!
Oh my Teneale, that is just gorgeous!! I won’t show you my daughter’s little desk and chair set… (especially since I can’t see the desk for all the junk she’s dumped on top of it..). I just came looking for your blog to see if you’d posted up info about that amazing set of muslin bags you decorated as an advent calendar and got totally sidetracked by this post instead! Thanks for inspiring us all!
Omg Teneale, pure gorgeousness!!! I bet they are totally in love with it!!
What an absolutely beautiful gift, made with loving hands! I hope that someone will be taking photos when the girls see all of this for the first time.
Ah, you have done it yet again, my friend! Fantabulous project! I am impressed that you got all the bits put together without me hearing you over the ditch *snigger* Love that you have avoided fights by personalising. Just lovely Teneale ♥
What a fun and creative gift for your two girls. I love how you finish off with the little extras.
Teneale, you are just amazing with what you do…..and I’m sure, an inspiration to all around you.
Gorgeous…how special are they and how special what you have made for your nieces.
Teneale that is a work of art – you must be the best Auntie ever!! and I am sure the girls will love their own special place at your house.
