A crazy thing happened last week I received a message on my Facebook inbox from Rick Adkins asking if I wanted to join The Spot design team. I had not heard of this challenge site before the message but when I hopped over to their site I loved the variety of challenge themes. So here I am a week later playing my first challenge, this week the theme is to create our own DSP which is short of Designer Series Paper.
Head over to The Spot challenge site to see what the other design team have created, we would LOVE to have you get creative with your stamps and join the fun.
I had a few different ideas rolling around in my head and decided on using Fancy Phrases stamp set from Stampin’ Up! as the feature of my background.
Fancy Phrases has two floral images in the set, I stamped the larger first and used the single stem image to fill in gaps using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad on Whisper White A4 Card Stock. The negative was filled in using my dark Seaside Spray Stampin’ Blend you may notice that I have not gone quite to the edge of the stamped image, I have small sections of white showing. That was totally planned as I wanted a rough-looking colour much like the sketch style that the floral arrangement was illustrated with. The flowers are coloured in the same manner using Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends.
Along the bottom, I created a ‘spot’ paper to reference the challenge site being called “The Spot” I am kind of dorky like that. I guess being a graphic designer is showing through, we are always looking for ways to add means to our designs. The spot image is from Dressed To Impress Stamp Set, I first coloured the Whisper White with dark Seaside Spray Stampin’ Blend and then stamped the image.
Inside the card, I have stamped the large floral image and added a strip of the spot paper I created.
Here are the items I have used in my card, click on the item to see more. All items are shipped Australia wide.

Absolutely stunning card Teneale!
Teneale, this is absolutely GORGEOUS! I had to stop by to see how you created that beautiful DSP. Thanks for the inspiration and welcome to the Design Team! We are blessed to have you!
Teneale your card is beautiful! I love the soft colours and addition of texture to your panel. Congratulations on your new DT role at The Spot; it’s new to me too and I’m looking forward to playing along again soon!
Wow! Love the colored background to just make those flowers pop. Reminds me of a vintage wallpaper. Gorgeous card.
This is simply beautiful – thank you for sharing your creation!
