By Teneale Williams | Stampin' Up! Halloween Sweet Treat Idea | Home Sweet Home Stamp Set and Framelits from Stampin' Up!Are you a fan of Halloween? It is not really an event that I personally celebrate, the past few years it has gotten a little more popular in my neighbourhood. I never have treats on hand to give out if kids come to the door. Last year I gave out boxes of Sultanas I had in my cupboard as snacks when my nieces are around. Word on the street was that my house did not have lollies or chocolate and I noticed the kids were skipping my door. I had no problem with that!  I was thinking of stocking up on Sultanas again until I realised the theme for the Dream Theme blog hop was Halloween. I could create something for the blog hop and then give them away.

I had a few ideas of what I could create rolling around in my head when I went to do my grocery shopping, then I spotted Liquorice sticks covered in Chocolate! Many the Stampin’ Up! Staff that come to Australia for events always are huge fans of Darrell Lea liquorice, it is really soft and well, anything coated in chocolate is pretty good!

The logs are individually wrapped and the idea of a witches broom was born! Really fast to make.  I fringed Basic Black cardstock and turned it with a bone folder. Using a glue dot to secure one end of the fringed cardstock to the plastic surrounding the log and wrap the cardstock around twice; finally, add a second glue dot to fasten. Wrap a little Jute Twine around about 5 times, with a glue dot on each end to affix the tail of Jute in place.

As I am not one to normally prepare anything for Halloween, I had only one stamp set that had anything to do with Halloween. Sweet Home Photopolymer Stamp Set with matching Thinlits Dies have a cute banner with a few greeting options, I have used Trick or Treat. The bat is a Thinlit die, which I cut from Basic Black cardstock and painted a little Wink of Stella Clear Gold over the top of a little sparkle.  I also lightly brushed the tips of the broom brushed with the Wink of Stella, it has not photography so well.

Now the question is, how many of this will I make? I asked my nieces what they thought and being little sweethearts they replied that they were very cute but they would not eat the Liquorice!  With that information, I am going to return to the supermart over the weekend to see if I can find an alternative. Now, hop on over to see what Patrice Halliday-Larsen has created for us.

Very Cute. I think you could do this is pretzel rods dipped in white chocolate and decorated with Halloween sprinkles. You can buy similar wrappers. I’ve got my treat for this year done, but maybe I can remember this for next year. How can I add this to my pinterest account?
